Alina Ishtiaq O.D.

Dr. Alina Ishtiaq is a licensed therapeutic optometrist/optometric glaucoma specialist, who grew up in Houston, TX. Dr. Ishtiaq received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Houston. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Ishtiaq always had an interest in science and wanted to practice medicine growing up. She believes her dad’s compassion and devotion towards his career as an ER doctor has played a huge role in shaping my decision to become an optometrist. As she watched and shadowed him over the years, she noticed that he was always compassionate towards his patients and gained their trust and friendship very easily.

Over the years, he has inspired her to hope to serve her prospective patients in a way that builds that kind of connection. After graduation, she starts working at Kingwood medical center and exploring different options in the medical field, she starts shadowing optometrists and ended up loving the field of optometry. Where she still gets to practice medicine, help people, and enjoy work.

Dr. Ishtiaq completed her clinical training with honors at Woolfson Eye Institute, The Illinois Eye Institute, and the Tallahassee VA, where she diagnosed and managed glaucoma, and various other retinal pathologies as well as developed expertise in the selection, evaluation, and management of patients who desire refractive surgery with an emphasis on providing pre-and post-operative refractive surgical care.

Dr. Ishtiaq also got trained at a private practice in Austin- McCormick Vision Source, where she was able to fit specialty contact lenses and manage patients with anterior segment disease. Throughout her rotations, Dr. Ishtiaq received clinical experience with emphasis on primary eye care, ocular disease, contact lenses, dry eye treatment, and pediatrics. In her spare time, Dr. Ishtiaq loves spending time with her family especially her nieces and nephews, and exploring new places and restaurants, and traveling.

Deborah Evans O. D.

Dr. Evans is a board certified therapeutic optometrist and was amongst the first group of optometrists in Houston to receive their glaucoma certification. She has lectured on contact lens fitting for astigmatism and has a published article on the fitting of cosmetic contact lens. She enjoys all aspects of optometry from complex contact lens fitting to managing and co-managing patients with ocular disease such as diabetes and cataracts.

Dr. Evans received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston. She also received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. She keeps up-to-date on the latest technology and clinical practices by attending many continuing education courses each year. She has served on an Optometric doctor advisory panel and as a board member of the Harris County Optometric Society.

She has also served on the board of a local foundation benefiting kids with autism- a cause for which she is very passionate about.

She and her husband are avid travelers and she has incorporated Eye-care missions in her trips to Central America. Besides traveling she also enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, an adorable Australian Shepherd.

Mavis Dao O.D.

Dr. Mavis Dao O.D. was born in Houston, Texas and is a graduate of the University of Houston. She obtained her Degree of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She completed her residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the Eye Care Center of New Jersey.

Dr. Dao loves to challenge herself with management of multiple different ocular conditions, including myopia, dry eye syndrome, keratoconus, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, conjunctivitis and many more. She enjoys working with patients of all ages. She is also fluent in Spanish and Chinese Cantonese and wants to continue to master those languages.

In Dr. Dao’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, trying different cuisines with friends and family, weightlifting and practicing martial arts. She has volunteered to provide eye care to the underserved communities in a Fijian mission trip and hopes to continue to participate in more mission trips in the future.

Samuel Wen, O.D.

Dr. Wen is a native of Houston, TX. He attended Baylor University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Inter American University of PR. He also received additional training in glaucoma and cataract diagnosis/treatment at Kendall Eye Institute in Miami Florida.

Dr. Wen was a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. As a licensed therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist, he is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating patients with glaucoma, eye infections, and ocular surface diseases. Dr. Wen has many years of experience in all aspects of primary eye care and fitting the latest contact lenses. He is fluent in Mandarin and Spanish.

He enjoys getting to know his patients and their family. In his spare time, he enjoys weight training, discovering new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with family and friends and his 2 Siberian Huskies Grant and Kaia. He is a huge Astros, Rockets and Texans fan.

Supriya Krishnan, O.D., COVD, MBA

Dr. Supriya Krishnan, is a therapeutic & developmental optometrist and Texas optometric board certified Glaucoma specialist. She employs a family-oriented approach to build long-lasting relationships with her patients. She is passionate about providing superior eyecare while focusing on overall health of kids and adults.

Dr. Krishnan, raised in India, graduated with honors from one of India’s top universities with a degree in Computer Science Engineering. After completing her undergraduate degree, she moved to the United States to earn an MBA, with a concentration in Finance from the University of Tampa. She graduated with honors as well.

Throughout her schooling, Dr. Krishnan received several awards, scholarships and recognition. Working for a few years at a large hospital in Tampa and for Wellcare, a well known health insurance company, helped Dr. Krishnan learn a lot about the healthcare system in the United States. She then went on to earn a Doctorate of Optometry from the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas.

While in Optometry School, Dr. Krishnan was an active member of several optometric associations.

She was the student liaison for NORA (Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association) for her school.

She was also a member of Sigma Alpha Pi, the National Society for Leadership and Success Honor Society.

Dr. Krishnan has participated in several volunteering opportunities such as school screenings, special Olympics, etc.

Dr. Krishnan completed a clinical externship at Manrique Custom Vision, San Antonio, TX where she managed several pre-operative and post-operative patients for LASIK, and several dry eye patients. She then went on to complete a clinical externship at Drs. Kozlowsky, Delay and Winters, San Antonio, TX.

Here she gained experience in management of ocular disease and contact lenses, including specialty fits and amblyopia. She saw a vast array of conditions in pediatric and geriatric population. She also managed several pre-operative and post-operative patients for cataract surgeries. She then completed another clinical externship at Sharp Eye Consultants, San Antonio, TX where she trained in management of ocular disease, with emphasis on glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. She also gained experience in management of pre-operative and post-operative patients for cataract surgeries. This rotation enabled her to gain extensive interaction with vast array of conditions in the geriatric population.

After graduation from optometry school, Dr. Krishnan volunteered at a practice in Bangalore, India and co-managed several ocular conditions such as uveitis, ocular injuries, corneal conditions, etc.

Dr. Krishnan is a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association. Dr. Krishnan currently lives in Memorial with her husband, Lokesh and her two sons, Trivik and Vishnav and daughter, Shloka. In her free time, Dr. Krishnan enjoys cooking different cuisines, traveling and learning about different cultures and traditions, listening to music, swimming and tennis.
